The next step...

Dear Freddie,

Tomorrow you start school. My heart breaks. Who will be walking by my side? Who's voice will I always hear? I've moaned so much about the mess and now who's mess will I tidy? It doesn't seem right, I still have to help with your shoes and cut up your lunch but tomorrow I wont be there to do those things.

The sobs when Call Me Maybe comes on the radio will make people think I have lost the plot and I probably will have but we know don't we. All of those funny dances, crazy yoga postures and epic duets have been my entertainment for the past couple of years. Who will be my Prince Hans now?

When you walk into that classroom with your uniform on and book bag in hand tomorrow my instinct will be to scoop you up and run for the hills. I will try to resist and if not your Daddy will be there acting as supervisor. As well as sadness I will be filled with an overwhelming sense of pride. It certainly does not feel like four years ago since that doctor told us we were facing a battle that might not be won. But it wasn't us fighting sweetheart, it was you and you did us all proud.

So tomorrow (and right now) if you think I look sad its because I am but it is only because I have got to share you. How could I possibly keep you all to myself, you shine so bright that it would be cruel to not let others enjoy that light.

Love from Mummy

Happy 4th Birthday Freddie Mark!

Our not so little Freddie is four years old today!

We are celebrating with a camping trip, swimming later and a family gathering tomorrow.

It is always a day of mixed emotions, obviously happiness and pride take over but there is
always a moment or two of quiet reflection thinking about our situation on this day and the months that followed those years ago. We are so lucky and blessed. Now I'm off to play with some of these new pressies!

Counting down to four years old!

I thought I would write a little post on Freddie's blog whilst he is still three years old. Where does the time go, I say it all the time but seriously, how can our Little Freddie be almost four already?
We are so proud of him and he continues to entertain us all with his brilliantly funny ways. He has requested that although fond of having a birthday he would rather people not shout happy birthday to him all at once. You have all been warned!

Birthday party fun

We have been on an adventure to stay with our lovely friends the Lowe's in Blackpool

Blackpool tower and ice cream. Happy.

A trip to our seaside friends wouldn't be complete without dressing up!

Man Farts, A Bunch Of Monkeys And A Curious Chicken

This absolutely should be the title of a book but instead it is simply how the Sawyer's have spent the last couple of weekends.

Man farts is all about the big boy and is pretty self-explanatory. Since turning seven something physical has changed within the boy and this happens to be his ability to fart like a fully grown man who has a terrible hang over and had baked beans for breakfast. It has become so bad that Freddie and I had to come up with a code word (which was "Stinky Goblin") at a recent camping trip in case we had to evacuate the tent.

Anyway, moving on to more pleasant things we recently had a walk around a forest full of monkeys:

This took place at Trentham Monkey Forest which is a fab place to take the family if you get the chance

We have also just been camping for my birthday weekend:

We have spent the weekend camping at Thorntons Holt in Stragglethorpe. Its been a great couple of days and we managed to dodge the rain. This last photo is of said curious chicken that decided to move in. He was lucky not to end up on the bbq.

Monday 29th June 2015

It's not long until Freddie starts school. We were very relieved when we found out that he has got a place at the same school as his big bro but at the same time the confirmation hit a bit of a nerve with me. Time has gone very quickly and it feels like a whole new chapter of parenthood is going to begin when both our boys are at school every day.

I have already taken on more work and so I will be plenty busy enough but it is just the prospect of no longer having those spontaneous days with either of them when places aren't very busy because it's term time.

We've been having a few issues with Freddie's temper recently. Out and about and when with other people he is usually perfectly fine. His behaviour is usually very good and it is difficult to explain what the problem is...

He's angry.

We're not sure what makes him angry but sometimes he is just so angry that a red mist descends and there is no pulling him out of it.

His anger mostly comes out when we are at home and something tips him over the edge e.g. no batteries in his music player...duck and cover people!

This anger was being directed our way during pre-school drops but fingers crossed the past few weeks have seen an improvement in the separation. I'm really hoping this continues as otherwise the daily school run come September could be a nightmare.

Anyhoo we have had a little bit of advice about how to deal with tantrums and are trying a few new Super Nanny type methods so we'll see if they help.

Here are some pics of some recent fun days out...
